What we do and how we do it so well

Tired of t-shirts that are uncomfortable and don't fit individual personalities, we were searching for something fresh and unique. We finally found what we were looking for but the brands that sold the clothing were high end, exclusive, and expensive. So, with this in mind, we made it our goal to solve this problem as well as others and create a high-end, exclusive, and inexpensive clothing brand that would cater to the consumer. Masculine, Feminine, Black, White, Purple, Green or whatever you want to call it, we are a little bit of everyone and everything. We represent hype beasts, sneaker heads, high society, the fashionable, the jocks, fixie fiends, the British, the world traveler, trend-setters, the consumer and whomever else you can think of. We are a little cocky and we have the vision, but to be in the business of making clothing you have to be a little out there. To put it in perspective...we are not out there, we are right here and we are right now.
Great personal style is made up of a certain percentage of "always" items and methods, mixed with a certain percentage of "sometimes" fashions, and a certain percentage of "nevers". -Scott Schuman

Crest T-Shirts

Be ready because the bear is coming...

Too Black Guys Spring/Summer 2009 Collection

tbg presents...not for sale from TBG on Vimeo.

I think this idea is so ill. Why bother with a page by page lookbook, when you can see how the clothing actually moves and feels through video. Don't get me wrong, I love photography, but this new way of displaying a collection adds a story and a new dimension to clothing promotion. Note to self: cop dat shit.

"Lights For Drowning" & "Wandering Off Into Space"

I am a big fan of Chuck Anderson and his work and very excited that he decided to release a book of his work titled "Wandering Off Into Space" (25 USD). The book tracks his works through the years and shows off his own creative style to the fullest, while at the same time benefiting a good cause. A portion of sales will benefit Invisible Children. How's that for an added bonus. Below is his newest print,"Lights For Drowning"(45 USD), a massive print of 18x24 inches; well rather small since Chuck has prints that measure 36x24 inches. Enjoy!

Caroline Smith & The Good Night Sleeps plays at the Secret Garden

Before their Spike Hill gig in Williamsburg, Caroline Smith & The Good Night Sleeps had the chance to perform in the Secret Garden. Maybe you didn't hear me the first time I said it, but this band is mind crushingly good. They even do a damn good cover of Dr. Dre's XXPLOSIVE. Just watch this video, because you can simply feel the music when they play because they are still having fun. It's good to know that true music still exists in this world so full of autotune.

Adonis's Music Drop

Ok everyone out there staring at a computer screen, I'm going to try and turn you on to some new rad music that I can't get out of my head. This is the first installment of many drops of, really whatever comes to my head. You'll like some, you'll hate others, but isn't that always the way it goes?

The Blind Boys

So, first up. Let me tell you about my personal favorite band, Third Eye Blind. Now I already can hear the naysayers chuckle about One Hit Wonders, but anyone who hears "Jumper" and "Semi-Charmed Life" and thinks they've experienced 3EB needs a good slap to the face. The San Francisco based quartet has put out up EP and 3 albums, and are on the eve of dropping their fourth: "Ursa Major," appropriately enough. (No relation) I would recommend every song on every one of these albums if you asked me personally, but I'm not hear to sing the whiny fanboy praises. I'm hear to try and turn you on to the band that changed my life and got me through some hard times. Give these guys a fair shot. Check out these tunes and then see how you feel:

Tattoo of the Sun (a B-side, but still one of their greatest)

On a separate note, I couldn't sleep at night if I didn't share this remix of Coldplay's hit "Viva La Vida" by Cinnamon feat. Alisha King.

Listen here:

One quick Google of "Viva La Vida Cinnamon" should get you the torrent in no time, and you're on your way.

That's all for me. Peace.

Harriet the Spy no longer

When she is not acting in Gossip Girl, Michelle Trachtenberg makes a damn good model. It doesn't help that I have had a crush on her since Harriet the Spy. Give the girl a damn magnifying glass and I'm good to go.

Air Yeezy is alive!

The Air Yeezy was developed from a strong relationship between West and Nike. Partnering with Nike Creative Director, Mark Smith, Kanye was taken through the product creation process, the same way athletes have with Nike Design for the past 37 years. West provided critical feedback on how the shoe performed throughout the course of his 2-3 hour performance sets, where the first prototypes of the Nike Air Yeezy were seen outside of Nike’s World Headquarters in Beaverton, OR.

An almost obsessive focus was put on delivering supreme comfort throughout the development of the shoe. A careful balance was sought, each time new elements were added, with existing elements being taken away; a design process Smith refers to as “reductionism”. Equipped with debossed ankle collar pods for added support and protection, extra-thick sock liners, a forefoot support strap, original functional tension lace loops, and Phylon tooling taken from the 1987 Nike Air Assault for added performance and comfort. These performance attributes have been meticulously wrapped in premium full grain leather uppers and adorned with original design details that are uniquely Kanye and identifiably Nike. The remastered Nike Air Assault outsole is treated to glow-in-the-dark properties and will illuminate when the light is low. The forefoot support strap is premium grade patent leather and is of no-stitch construction. Clean seams are used throughout except for a premium suede toe wrap feature with visible stitch detail. Emblazoned across the Air Yeezy is an exclusive “Y” repeat pattern, as either a debossed or lasered detail, which takes inspiration from the Jordan brands iconic Elephant print material.

The Nike Air Yeezy colorways will release in Spring 2009:
April 2009 Zen Grey/LT Charcoal
May 2009 Black/ Black
June 2009 Net/Net

The Light, The Vision

So I hope all the kids out there are enjoying the UMi experience. Setting our hounds to the web to sniff through the garbage and find the freshest wear for your consumption, it's just what we do. Now, I'd just like a round of applause for Kodi, who's been more than keeping up his side of this project in hitting you with glasses, kicks, etc, updated several times a week. I just want to further my previous post's apology in saying that these past 2 months have been some of the busiest of my life. I've has been weighed down by every little thing and just havent been able to pick up the pencil lately, but never fear. No one here at UMi has lost the vision! I promise to you that I still see the light and when my days clear up I will more than make up my absence with a flood of hot designs. That being said, enjoy the site for now, and sit tight. Very soon you'll have your paws on some UMi merch that will make you the talk of the town.

Urban Spectacles for those who live an urban lifestyle

If I didn't already have a pair of party glasses and needed a pair of prescription frames, I would pick up a pair of these bad boys courtesy of Urban Spectacles.
"Unlike all other collections of eyewear, those of Urban Spectacles stand apart as being truly hand made with meticulous attention to detail throughout every process of the spectacle's creation. Using the most eccentric and durable hardwoods as material, each pair of eyeglasses is fully customized to meet the specific desires of the individual. As unique as the imagination, the possibilities of eyewear from Urban Spectacles are boundless."
After seeing the numerous custom jobs done, I may still get myself a party pair; not prescription frames, but worn when you attend a party so you can take them off when you mean business to assassinate the situation. (yes, I do mean assassinate and not insinuate like you thought, and what!)

Move Over Conan...but not too far because we still love you

I sure love me some Conan O'Brien, but Late Night with Jimmy Fallon just one-upped Max Weinberg by switching out the old house band with a fresh and new one by instituting The Roots as the new house band. Now how is that for entertaining the youth and the new generation. They just slow jammed the news. It's looking like a pretty bright future America! Let's stay tuned!
